As you probably know by now, the Association of Yale Alumni (AYA) and the Yale Arab Alumni Association will be hosting a panel discussion titled The Global Citizen: Dubai this coming Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. I would like to invite you personally to join the AYA, fellow Yale alumni, and a list of accomplished speakers in addressing the challenges and opportunities of being global citizens in local communities of the Arab world today.
The event promises to be a first for our region. AYA Executive Director Mark Dolhopf (’77) will speak about the role of alumni as Yale “global ambassadors.” The one-hour panel discussion, moderated by Kyle McEneaney (’02), will feature accomplished speakers from Dubai, including Aviv and Poonam Bhojani, chief executive officers of the BPG Group and Innoventures Educators, respectively; Karim Shariff, Vice Chairman of Teneo Capital Dubai. YAAA member Emily Sosangelis (’13), Project Officer at UNDP Iraq, will be joining us from Erbil, Iraq .
YAAA Board Treasurer Tammer Qaddumi (’06) will give opening remarks on behalf of the Association together with Nicholas Lewis (’93), Senior Director of Shared Interest Groups at AYA.
The networking reception to follow will give all of us the opportunity to meet and share experiences with Yale representatives, fellow alumni, and guests.
As YAAA’s president, I hope that you can join us on Thursday. I personally am looking forward to meeting all members of the Association and their guests, and of hearing how best to make YAAA the leading Yale shared interest group in our region.
